17th of May

17th of may is the Norwegian national day, it's the day when we in 1814 got our own constitution! And we celebrate it with children walking in parade, marching bands playing, spring, sun (exept this year in Oslo, where it was snowing...), eating icecream and wearing our national costumes (bunad). I spent half the day studying since I have an exam on 19th... But the afternoon and evening was fun! We went to the student cabin eating a lot of food and cake, and then after that just hanging around in town.

Gudrun (in her really beutifull hardanger bunad), me (who didn't wear bunad this year :(, Mette and Line

A HUGE cake!

Line and Henrik - always cute together :) Trondheim in the background

Me and Mette tried to get on the 17th of may meating at the student community, but it was completly full, and we where the last not getting in.... But since we never really managed to descide if we wanted to go or not, we didn't really care :)

Eating icecream and whaching the river Nidelven and the Nidaros cathedral.

Bakklandet - a really nice part of Trondheim
Whatching the old city bridge and having a beer at the Good Neighbour
Product design project pics:
We actually managed to build the whole thing functioning, including, sewing, cut on the lathe (dreie), and making a convex mirror from a flat one! Proud :) And is anyone doest't really get what this is: It's a mirror to have on the backseat so the driver can see a baby in a backseat babyseat facing backwards.

Rhetoric

Today I have been sitting in the sun studying for my Rhetoric exam and I have learned:
  • The Gettysbury adress took Lincoln 135 sek present
  • Under the election campain Douglas called Lincoln "a rawboned, shamble-gaited, bow-legged, knock kneed, pigeon-toed, slob-sided, shapeless skeleton in a very tough, very dirty, unwholesome skin" and "a long, lean, lank lantern jawed, high cheek-boned, spavined, rail-splitting stallion". If the americans where as creative today, I would have looked foreward to the election in US this fall, would have been truly entertaining! :D
  • In old Rome a man who caught another man in bed with his wife was alowed to kill this man. Because seducing another mans wife was so bad, the old romans viewed this as perfectly reasonable. The wife of course had no blame whatsoever.
  • Some of the old european beggar munks preached naked with their robe on the head to get the audience attention.

And the reason I take this paper is because uni demand that I have two non technical papers to get a wider perspective. I think I go jogging insted now...

Two down, three to go!

A little update on everything:
  • I have now finished both my 100% project in EiT and Product design, and therefore only have three papers with exam left! :D
  • After a week with two nights of working untill 2 am and 1 am I am actually looking forward for exam studying :)
  • I have modernized, and have gotten a TV! For 2 Coronas and 100 NOK I got Hege and Kullis' old one :D
  • It's impressive how long time just finishing reports and projects take, and how wierd humor you get from working really really long. Examples from EiT underneath
  • Quote 1 that we actually wrote in our EiT prosess report: ”Vi sliter med å engasjere folk. Det gjelder å få opp øynene. Dette er ingen Kardemomme by”
  • Quote 2 from EiT prosess report that was written but very soon discarded for some reason.... "På dette området kan vi nesten ikke annet enn å påstå at personlighetstesten er misvisende, eller for å si det som en metafor, hvis personlighetstesten er en bil på en vei gjennom et jorde, så i dette tilfellet så svingte veien med det gjorde ikke testen."
  • I am gonna try to get some photos of our product design model, it got really cool!
  • I have gotten my master project description and title now! It will be my summerjob, master project and master thesis, and the title iiiiiis........ "drumwirvl"..... Multiscale Material Modelling of Cleavage Fracture in Steel (hard to pronounce :) Gonna be interesting!
